The station is just bone island platform-uptown alongside downtown. Upstairs is the artwork "Passing Through" by Al Held.

6 platform (51st street)[]
This area has two tracks and two island platforms. The express trains pass underneath. The crossunder for the downtown platform had the artwork "Tunnel Vision" consisting a view of the city through "cracks" in the wall.
